My 10 SAFE tips for computing

1. UPDATES/PATCHES
Always make sure you have an updated version of windows, Turn on automatic updates, these updates are necessary because windows might have found a bug or exploit they want to fix.

2.INSTALL PROTECTIVE SOFTWARE
Always make sure you have an up to date antivirus, The Free ones do a good job, but I always recommend the commercial ones like NOD32 OR KASPERSKY. (leave a review and stand a chance to win a FREE NOD32 KEY)

3.CHOOSE STRONG PASSWORDS
We still have people who have passwords like 1234, 0000 and Birthday combined with year you where born come on! use a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. Create a unique password for each account, to avoid someone getting one password and opening all your accounts.

4.BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM
Scheduling routine backups can protect you from the unexpected. Always keep a few months’ worth of retrievable backup. Download and install CrashPlan and learn how to back up your system.

5.CONTROL ACCESS TO YOUR MACHINE
Don’t leave your computer in an unsecured, public area, especially if you’re logged on. The physical security of your machine is just as important as its technical security. It takes a few minutes to install a backdoor or steal data from you!

6.EMAIL & INTERNET SAFETY
Ignore unsolicited emails. Be wary of attachments, links, and forms in emails that come from people you don’t know, or which seem “phishy.” Avoid untrustworthy (often free) downloads And sites that tell you that you have won an iphone or lottery and Greencard for the U.S.A.

7. SENSITIVE DATA
If you have data that is sensitive or can land you in hot water if leaked or maybe you just don’t want people to ever find out what you are up to, use a free encryption software eg I use Veracrypt.

8.DESKTOP FIREWALL
Mac and Windows computers use basic desktop firewalls to protect your computer files from being scanned. Make sure they are properly configured.

9.Secure Connections
If you did not know, I could see what your doing if you join my wifi connection, so you never know about free connections just make sure you have antivirus on your phone or computer from preventing people from inserting a backdoor(will be able to access your device anytime)
